Los Angeles is now one of the favorites in baseball odds at the online sportsbook as they are about 7-1. The Angels made a big move just a week after the Dodgers signed Zack Greinke. The Angels definitely made the bigger splash getting Hamilton who was the biggest free agent on the market. Hamilton was signed to a 5-year, $125 million dollar deal.

The Angels now have the best middle of the order in all of baseball with Hamilton, Albert Pujols and Mike Trout. Two years ago it was Hamilton winning the AL MVP award. Hamilton hit .285 for the Rangers last season with 43 home runs and 128 RBIs. "To get a guy like Josh and combine him with Albert is going to give us building blocks for what we hope is years to come," manager Mike Scioscia said. "We can't wait." The $25 million dollars per year for Hamilton is the second highest average salary (tied with Philadelphia?s Ryan Howard) in the league behind only Alex Rodriguez who gets $27.5 million per year from the Yankees. "It was a great investment," said Angels owner Arte Moreno.

Rangers Have a Huge Hole to Fill

Texas reached the World Series in 2010 and in 2011 but they are no longer favorites to make it in 2013 without Hamilton. The Rangers never really put the full court press on to sign Hamilton and they lost out. Hamilton said it was time to move on. "I gave them everything I had for five years," Hamilton said. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little upset they didn't put the press on."

Power Now Out West

The power teams in baseball used to be the Yankees and Red Sox along with the Phillies but now the power is out West with the Dodgers and Angels. And those two teams are the favorites in baseball odds at the sportsbook for 2013.
